New Wave Research, Inc. obtains Preliminary Injunction against Japanese Equipment Manufacturer

The ruling is based on New Wave Research, Inc.'s claim in connection with patent infringement by Laser Solutions of New Wave Research's proprietary wafer-scribing technology.

Fremont, Calif., March 13, 2007 – New Wave Research Inc. of Fremont, California, announced today that Taipei District Court issued a preliminary injunction ruling against Laser Solutions, a Japanese producer of microelectronic manufacturing equipment. The ruling prohibits Laser Solutions’ RAPYULAS MP-T1030 and MPT-2030 equipments from being manufactured, sold, offered for sale, used or imported before an irrevocable final judgment on merits has rendered contradictorily. The ruling refers to New Wave Research's claim for recovery on Laser Solutions infringement of New Wave Research's patented AccuScribe systems technology, Taiwan patent No. 194157 titled “Scribing Sapphire Substrates With a Solid State UV Laser,” an industry leading blue LED wafer-scribing product family. New Wave Research had sought the ruling based on the belief that Laser Solutions’ above products that infringed on New Wave Research's patent on AccuScribe systems' technology. Since the introduction in the market over five years ago, New Wave Research has filed over 14 patents for their proprietary technologies. Patents for New Wave Research’s proprietary wafer scribing technology have been awarded in United States, Taiwan, and China – with other patents pending.
